• Abstract:
  
  Attempts to use the Java Server Faces validator might result in
  long validation times.
  
  Problem:
  
  You developed projects using Java Server Faces 2.0.  You
  developed facelets (.xhtml files) inside these projects.  You
  observed long validation times for these projects.  You took
  traces using this technote:
  
  http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21416260
  
  The traces have shown that the validator which uses most time is
  the Java Server Faces Validator
  (com.ibm.etools.jsf.validation.JsfValidator).
  
  Local fix:
  
  You can either disable this validator or change the preferences
  to only run it manually instead of after every build.
  
  These are the steps:
  
  1. Open: Windows?Preferences?Validators
  2. Deselect the first or both of the options below:
  
  JSF View Validator: Build
  JSF View Validator: Manual
  
  It is also possible to selectively disable this validator for a
  specific project, with the steps below:
  
  1. Right click on the Project in the Enterprise Explorer
  2. Select: Preferences?Validators
  3. Select: Enable project specific settings
  4. Deselect the first or both of the options below:
  
  JSF View Validator: Build
  JSF View Validator: Manual

Problem conclusion

• The Faces Page Validator had been modified to perform the
  validation in a shorter time.  The fix for this APAR is
  included in Rational Application Developer v8.0.4.1.
